We Neutralise Our Footprint
For a number of years Sukin has proudly worn the Carbon Neutral logo alongside our own.
Working closely with the Carbon Reduction Institute of Australia, Sukin have been able to effectively reduce, measure and offset all carbon emissions involved in the operation of business.
For Sukin this includes everything from product manufacture, freight, office operations, and warehouse operations.
The frequent and stringent reporting measures of the CRI allow Sukin to identify those areas of greatest impact to our environment, and seek out strategies for reducing these emissions, alongside purchasing credits for all emissions we are responsible for.
Our aim is to neutralise the negative effect carbon emissions are potentially having on climate change, and in effect, our environment.
To date, Sukin have offset nearly 8000 tonnes of CO2e, which is the equivalent of:
- Taking 3490 cars off the road each year
- Deducting the emissions of 558 households each year
Our Project – Sukin’s carbon credits are currently being funnelled into a clean energy biomass project in India.
Due to a rapidly increasing population putting a strain on India’s power resources, extreme amounts of coal burning exacerbates their already troubling issue with air pollution.
Renewable biomass utilizes agricultural waste and other non-renewable sources as fuel to generate power, as a cleaner alternative to coal. The use of biomass (biological material derived from organic matter) is less emission intensive, and makes use of a resource that would otherwise be left to decay and emit methane.
To meet current energy demands, biomass boilers are being installed and are utilizing locally available agricultural waste, reducing emissions.
This not only has astounding environmental repercussions but contributes also to the welfare of the communities employed in the biomass project.
Sukin has contributed to a whopping $139,000 going to Indian farmers in exchange for biomass to run these boilers
