Alongside providing our customer with a Natural, Vegan, quality and affordable product, we at Sukin HQ are committed to giving back by leaving as little of a carbon footprint as possible. Reducing our carbon emissions is such an important initiative for us as we believe that as a manufacturing business, it is our duty to respect the planet we live on and set a good example in the corporate world.
To achieve this goal, we work closely with the Carbon Reduction Institute of Australia, who are committed to protecting our environment- one carbon offset emission at a time. We have been able to effectively manage the operations of the business to meet the Carbon Institute’s NoC02 certification standards. This gives us the Carbon Neutral stamp of approval which means that we offset any climate change impacts by supporting carbon reduction initiatives around the world.
- Since 2008 Sukin have offset a total 30,568.72 Tonnes of CO2
- This is the equivalent of not burning 12,860,751 litres of fuel in 12,067 cars
- It’s also the total driving length of 176,174,677km which equates to 4,396 laps around the world
To maintain our Carbon Neutral status, we counterbalance any negative effect of our unavoidable emissions by supporting projects in both India and China that proactively reduce environmental impact. These projects not only support individuals and their families to provide income and job opportunities, they also reduce the amount of greenhouse gases produced. This is primarily through utilising agricultural waste and converting it to energy in India and by producing renewable energy from wind farms in China.
Indian Biomass Bagasse
Due to the significant increase in India’s population, there has been a heavy dependence on coal in order to power the country’s electricity generation. Unfortunately, the burning of coal equates to substantial amounts of air pollution that has become an ongoing public health and environmental issue. To help provide an environmentally friendly energy alternative, Biomass is being used in some plants instead of coal. It’s derived from rise husks that is agricultural waste, and is now being utilised to create clean energy instead of being left to decay. This reduces the generation of methane which prevents further damage to the environment.
China Wind Energy
China is the world’s largest producer of greenhouse gases. Therefore, it is no surprise that China also suffers from a tremendous level of air pollution, and the Chinese people are suffering greatly from air pollution related diseases. To combat such negative emissions, there has been a great need for a cleaner alternative. Wind projects have been established to create a clean source of energy, through the energy of moving air that is attached to a generator. Alongside the renewable energy that is made, it has created jobs and has reduced harmful air pollution caused health conditions.
