Winter is coming! Oh wait, it’s here! The first day of the dreaded chilly season is upon us. So apart from the fact that we’re now wearing layers, sleeping with hot water bottles and cursing getting out of bed, what does it mean for our skin?
Dehydration, and dryness sound about right? From cold winds, central heating and low humidity, your skin is left feeling vulnerable. Here are some helpful hints to keep your skin luscious during the colder months.
Ideally you want to be exfoliating your body weekly (if you’re not already). In the winter your skin is constantly turning over, and that dead layer of skin needs to come off in a gentle fashion.
At Sukin, we have three body exfoliators in our line up – the Purifying Body Scrub, the Energising Body Scrub and the Renewing Body Scrub. What’s the difference between all of these products you ask? Well, they’re all fabulous at effectively polishing your skin, however the Energising Scrub will also stimulate the surface of your skin, the Renewing Scrub is ideal for someone with sensitive or delicate skin, and the Purifying Scrub is the perfect all-rounder.
Our scrubs, including face and body, do not contain plastic micro beads. Instead we opt for natural exfoliating particles like walnut shell and jojoba beads. *insert celebration here.
Swap your daily body lotion for oil, or even better, use both! Oil seems to have better affinity with skin, as it is close in structure to our naturally occurring sebum. Our Ultra Hydrating Body Oil will help lock in moisture, replenish hydration and promote skin elasticity and radiance. This multi-use body oil is also perfect for massage, or as a bath oil. For optimal results, apply straight out of the shower. You can also add your oil to your daily moisturiser, or follow the oil with a moisturiser for a more intensified hydration.
If oil’s aren’t your thing, our Moisture Rich Body Cream is a wonderful alternative. Jam-packed full of cocoa, sesame, jojoba and shea butter, this luxurious botanical rich body crème will help hydrate thirsty skin. Rose hip and borage assist with skin renewal while aloe vera and evening primrose help soothe and calm the skin.
Face masks are a great way to treat your skin concerns. The mask will cover your skin for a more intense experience that allows the active ingredients to penetrate the skin, and, it’s the perfect excuse to relax and zone out for 15 minutes (at least).
Our Hydrating Facial Masque is infused with rich mango seed butter, avocado oil and olive fruit extract which provides deep hydration and protects the skin’s moisture barrier. Enzymes provided through papaya and pineapple nourish the complexion and impart important vitamins and fruit acids for a smooth and healthy glow. Ensure your skin is cleansed before application, and if you’re looking for an intense experience, layer the product on your skin and leave it on overnight. You can wipe off the excess in the morning (if there is any).
